Sessions & fees
The most important part of counselling is how we get on. So the first session costs nothing, and there is no pressure to book another one.
All sessions last 50 minutes and cost the same, whichever one you choose. You can also move between them. Plenty of people meet indoors in the winter and walk in the summer.

Counselling outdoors, walking a route we agree together through Blean Woods.
Lower rate, £30 per session I think good counselling should be open to everyone. I keep a few spaces at a lower price for people who are struggling with money. Just say so when you get in touch. You won't be asked to prove anything.
Walk & Talk Therapy
Walk and Talk Therapy is counselling that happens outdoors while we walk together. We follow a route we agree beforehand through Blean Woods, one of the largest ancient woodlands in England.
Talking can feel easier when you are moving, and side by side rather than sitting opposite someone. Being outside can take the edge off a hard subject, and gives you somewhere else to rest your eyes.
We sort out the practical things first: the route, what we do if we bump into someone you know, and what happens if the weather turns. What you tell me stays private, exactly as it would indoors.
How to find me
My counselling room is in Rough Common, just outside Canterbury. It is easy to get to by car or bus, there are no steps, and there is off street parking.
I'll send you the full address and directions once we have arranged your first session.
Before you get in touch
Mostly we talk. There is no test to pass and nothing you need to prepare. I'll ask a bit about what has brought you, explain how I work and how privacy works, and leave plenty of room for your questions. Afterwards you can go away and think about it. There is no expectation that you book again on the spot.
There is no set answer. Some people come for a few sessions to work through one thing. Others stay much longer. We look at how it is going as we go along, and you can stop whenever you want to.
Yes. What you bring stays between us, and I work to the BACP code of ethics. Like every counsellor, I talk about my work in regular supervision, but without naming you. There are a few rare legal limits, mainly where someone is at serious risk of harm. I'll go through all of this properly in the first session so you know exactly where you stand.
Yes. I see adults, and young people aged 16 to 18. Young people are welcome to contact me themselves, or a parent or carer can make the first contact for them.
We agree in advance what we do in bad weather. Usually that means moving the session indoors or online, or walking anyway if you would rather. Blean can get muddy, so bring sturdy shoes whatever the forecast says.
I go through how to pay and what happens if you need to cancel in the first session, and it is all written down in the agreement I send you. Ask me before we meet if you would like to know sooner.
